What’s The Deal With Sweat?

Why do we sweat?

You may be aware that sweating regulates our body temperature, but science shows there are many health benefits to sweating, particularly the elimination of toxins.

One of the best ways to get rid of harmful chemicals is through sweating

with the infrared sauna, like the one we have here at Vital Rejuvenation.

There are many scientific studies that prove sweating is an effective way to eliminate toxic substances the body holds onto, like pesticides, certain metals, environmental pollution, and

more.

The Facts

According to Sherry Rogers, MD, a leading environmental medicine authority, “Sweat is the only proven method for getting the most damaging toxins out of the body,”

One study performed in 2011 collected blood, urine, and sweat. Samples from 20 individuals (10 healthy participants and 10 participants with various health problems) and analyzed for approximately 120 various compounds, including toxic elements. Toxic elements were found to differing degrees in each of the blood, urine, and sweat. Many toxic elements appeared to be preferentially excreted through sweat.

Here are some of the interesting findings from the study:

  • Some toxins didn’t show up in blood or urine, but they did release through sweat.
  • Many heavy metals were found in sweat. This means, sweating, like you do in an infrared sauna, may help detoxify heavy metals, which are some of the worst toxins that can be in your body.
  • Infrared heat was found to work better for heavy metals than sweating in a traditional sauna or through exercise.
